Mallory Yanhan Qiu - Performance, Sound, and Digital Artist
Mallory Yanhan Qiu is an emerging performer, sound artist, curator and digital visual artist based in Chicago IL. Her interdisciplinary practice reflects her passion and professional skills through live video/sound performance, sonic study, body movement, and 3D animation.
Driven by her interest in physical sensory perception and simulated biological action, Qiu tries to flip the front side of the world to the back for the audiences. By observing the rapid chaotic changes in daily life, She seeks to fill the gaps between space, body, and memory. Integrating movement, sound, and visual art, Qiu makes works to open up and inquire into experiences and perspectives in both physical and virtual worlds.
As an emerging curator who focused on performance art, Mallory currently works as the Curatorial Assistant at High Concept Labs. And she is in the Curatorial Team of Elevate Chicago Dance, produced by Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF), and Destinos Chicago International Latino Theater Festival, produced by Chicago Latino Theater Alliance (CLATA), to closely support the Curator,Yolanda Cesta Cursach Montilla.
